| The route of the peace is located in the Department of Morazán, which includes the towns that suffered the greatest activity during the 12 years of civil war in the decade of the 1980s. You will find a large number of hotels and restaurants to visit with your friends. |

"Perquín" means "Paths of Fire" and it is a Lenca town surrounded by coffee plantations, pinewoods and rivers located at 1,250 meters above sea level, with a cool weather.
Tourist Attractions:
"Museo de la Revolución" (Revolution Museum): A collection of historic moments and objects related to the civil war of ElĀ Salvador; include the history of the conflict through images and local guides narrations.
"Cerro de Perquín" (Hill of Perquín): Close to the Revolution Museum, a 15 minutes journey towards the cusp, from where you can see a beautiful landscape.
"Quebrada de Perquín" (Gulch of Perquín): The origin to a pool set, a refreshing dip during the winter season will be the perfect culmination for the travel. From here, you can see a wide variety of birds.
"El Bailadero del Diablo" (Devil's Dancefloor): A site with an impressive topography and beautiful landscapes, located on the road to Honduras. It has a camping area.
To reach Perquín, just take the CA-7N highway to Morazán Department.

This population founded by the Spaniards was used as a road towards the Hondurans towns of Colomoncagua and La Esperanza. San Fernando has a colonial style church and a rustic square to locate the horses still used by its inhabitants as transportation.
Among its tourist attractions are the "Río Negro" (Black River) and a natural site called "The Chorrerón" where tourists can enjoy a bath in their cool waters. Another attraction are the cascades "El Diamante" (The Diamond) and "Las Golondrinas" (The Swallows) located in the "Cañaverales" river. All these sites are in natural state and don't have tourism infrastructure.
San Fernando is located 45 kms. nortwest of San Francisco Gotera and is 890 meters above sea level.

Torola is a population of Precolumbian origin, inhabited by Lencas indigenous who speak the language Potón. Its name, composed from Potón words interpreted as "The Three Heads". In its access route is located the historical site "El Moscarrón", where in 1982 happened a bloody battle of the civil war. Currently has 501 inhabitants only in the town.
The Patron Saint Day festivities are from January 19th to January 20th honoring "San Sebastián", from July 24th to July 25th in honour to "Santiago Apóstol", and from October 17th to 18th October honoring "San Lucas".
Torola is located 52 kms southwest of San Francisco Gotera and 730 meters above sea level. The route is passing through Perquín, followed by paved street 7 kms. until reaching the detour of San Fernando and then 7 kms. by street in land until reaching Torola.

Arambala possesses a wide variety of natural resources. It has a fresh climate and its vegetation consists mainly by pine and oak forests. "Arambala" in Potón language means "Scorpions River", founded by Precolombian Lencas Potones.
Among the tourist attractions of Arambala, we can mention "El Río Sapo" (Frog River), "El Bailadero del Diablo" (Devil's Dancefloor), "Cascada El Perol" (El Perol Cascade), "El Llano del Muerto" (The Plain of the Dead), "Cerro Pericón" (Pericón Hill) and others, besides you can visit the Monument to "ElĀ Mozote" hamlet dedicated to the memory of the more than one thousand massacred victims by the armed forces at the beginning of the civil war.
Arambala is located 35 km northeast from San Francisco Gotera and 840 meters above sea level; the access is by the CA-7N highway.
Today, Arambala has about 350 inhabitants in the town; their Saint Patron Day festivities are held on August 23th and 24th in honour of "San Bartolomé", on December 7th and 8th celebrating "El Carnaval Fogonero" and in January 22nd and 23th the celebration is conducted in honor of "El Niño Dios". For its appreciable nature, Arambala is ideal to enjoy the ecotourism.

Joateca is situated on the northeast of the Morazán Department, border with the republic of Honduras, is located approximately at 50 km from San Francisco Gotera and 820 meters above sea level. One of its entrances is by the CA-7N highway.
In Potón language Joateca means "Ocotes Valley", although other authors interpret it as "Valley of the Ears".
Joateca is a town with 1,248 inhabitants and is surrounded by beautiful mountains and pine forests. It retains much of the rural lifestyle and the architectural heritage from old houses, in addition to a picturesque church and a wide central plaza, giving the impression that the time has been arrested in this beautiful corner of El Salvador.
The Patron Saint Day celebrations are held from June 12th to June 13th in honour of "San Antonio de Padua" and from December 7th to December 15th in honour of "La Inmaculada Virgen de Concepción". Its main attraction is "Río San Antonio" (San Antonio River) and their thermal waters.

The rig crafts, the Winakirika museum, the wells of Barca and Horno, joined to the residents even with physiognomy Lenca, which inhabited the area before the Spanish colonization distinguish Cacaopera, located at 9.6 km north from San Francisco Gotera, with paved streets, at an altitude of 520 metres above sea level.
In the main square of Cacaopera is its colonial church, built in the year 1660. In its construction, surprised its thick walls, very close a belfry maintains three large bronze bells dating from 1721.
Cacaopera is the birthplace of the dances "Los Emplumados" and "Los Negritos", as well as for the fire ceremony on Easter Sunday.
The name "Cacaopera" comes from the Ulúa language, meaning "Cacao Wall".
In the Winakirika museum, located on the shores of Torola river you can find information from the indigenous culture and traditions of Cacaopera, who also inhabited the area before the Spanish conquest. Currently account with 2495 inhabitants in the town; its Patron Saint Day celebrations are from August 12th to August 15th in honour of "La Virgen del Tránsito" and on February 15th honoring "la Exaltación de La Cruz".
