This is the biggest lake of El Salvador with 72 km² and a maximum depth of 248 mts. Investigations say that it was formed by a volcanic eruptions and tectonic sinking
Investigators have come to the conclusion that the lake was formed on the II a.d. after a massive volcanic eruption; the last eruption of this lake was in the year 1880 between the months of January and March.
Here you can swim, sail, kayak, fish, dive really deep and enjoy the nature.
At the bottom of the lake you can see the ruins of an ancient civilization.
